There Once Were Two Christians...a Modern Parable

There once were two Christians sitting & reminiscing about their recent mission trip helping orphans in a distant land. One Christian said to the other "Doesn't it feel good to know because of all we've done that when we die we will surely meet with Jesus and get into Heaven?" The other Christian responded with a smile "Thanks to those orphans, I already have".

What if Heaven were here? What if we are so concerned about being a "good Christian" that we miss out on moments with God? What if Heaven could be on Earth in those moments when we are Present in His Presence? Think about it.

Thank you http://wideopenground.com/2013/01/26/missions-from-an-unfundamentalist-christian/
for the inspiration. And Thank you Jesus for revealing your Truth again and again. :)

Guns Are Not the Problem...

As long as we have fear we will have the desire for guns. To take away the guns and not acknowledge the fear is only managing the symptom. We have a bigger problem...a Spiritual one.

With greater freedoms of choice we have greater potential to create a Hell vs. Heaven....and isn't that what people have been doing since the beginning of time? To react in fear and behave based on our egos will always result in destruction! Does God regret planting the Tree of Knowledge? I'd dare to say no! Because even with our choice to reach for the meaninglessness of a Godless life comes the possibility to reach towards God who is Love.

We have been given the ability to chose Love and each of us has the ability to chose evil. The use of guns to do harm is a choice to remain in Hell, separate from the One...but the gun itself is sinless and without blame or guilt. In a fearless world the gun would have no meaning.

It doesn't matter what type of guns were used for Sandy Hook or for any other crimes. The guns are just a tool, a physical extension of a soul lost from God...lost from Love. What matters is how those that are of God will chose to pour our energies into growing Love...and stomping out Fear. How well do we love? That's the true challenge & the root of the "gun problem" in America.

My Reluctance to be Organized...

I was pretty much raised in church...I started out my early years as a Lutheran Brethren...then a change of address brought me to the Presbyterian Denomination...in junior high I was involved in two youth groups...a Nazarene youth group as well as within a new (to me) Presbyterian one. In High School I briefly attended a Lutheran Church...and also was involved (somewhat) in another youth group of which denomination I cannot recall...then early college back to the Lutheran Brethren...and then after another move I went back to a Presbyterian church where I became a member...and in that church I got married...then we moved to a new city and after "church shopping" felt led to attend a Methodist Church...and then to a Non-denominational one...then back again to a different Methodist church (where I am now) that seems to be where I feel led by Spirit (aka The Holy Spirit) to be.

Each of these church experiences have helped challenge me to think and grow in my Faith independent of a certain denomination. In fact, it was eye opening to me how different churches reading the same Bible could interpret what they read SO differently and yet with absolute conviction believe THEY were right and that others were "misled". Good people...devoted Christians...on completely different pages! And with this I felt compelled to search for Him beyond church walls. Church became for me a community, a resource, a place to challenge and develop my own beliefs and to listen to His Voice, not to mindlessly follow, to use as a crutch, or for pre-interpreted "cliff notes" to His Word.

This may be why I am hesitant for church membership. I am reluctant to "profess my beliefs" as pre-described by an organized denomination. I need to not feel constrained to a predetermined mindset...to commit to a solid understanding...but to be free to be led by Him and His Word beyond church doctrines & traditions. It's in this freedom that God can Reveal who He is beyond the definitions of the church and of man.

Not Just As I'm Seen...but a Spirit Seeking Truth

This blog exists because I have been wanting to connect about more than just my earth stuff...to ponder, explore, and question Spiritual matters. It's my hope this blog can be a place for Spirit...and for reflection & a place to share & grow.

Do you also feel a duality of existence between your Spirit self & your Earthly identity?
